The photographs represent his finest images up until the end of the sixties, including portraits, fashion photographs, personal snaps and East End scenes. The book accompanied an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Martin Harrison's text assesses Bailey's work and includes illustrations of images (covers and spreads) for fashion magazines, including Vogue.
