The first full-length biography of Robert Colquhoun and Robert MacBryde, with a catalogue raisonné of their work included at the rear. The two Scottish painters were closely entwined - artistically, socially and romantically. They were associated with the Neo-Romantic group and were friends with Bacon, Freud, Minton and Dylan Thomas. Their short and often tragic lives has lent them somewhat mythical status. Bristow's biography dispels some of these myths and re-establishes the Roberts' place in art history.
