A two volume work on the art of the great Russian/Ukranian artist Aleksandra Ekster [Alexandra Exter]. Ekster spent the majority of her creative life between Kiev and Paris, and whilst remembered as an important member of the Russian Avant-Garde group, she also mixed with the Cubists and Art Deco painters of France. This is the most comprehensive book available on Ekster and was published to coincide with the first large-scale retrospective of her art at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. The paintings, graphic works, costume and set designs, and book illustrations are all generously described and illustrated. Included are reprints of articles, letters and memories, as well as a chronology, list of exhibitions and bibliography.
