Stephen Gill's book of nature photography, capturing the birds near his Swedish home. In 2015 Gill planted a wooden pillar in the ground within an open landscape. On another pillar sat a camera with a motion sensor. Through the changing seasons of a Swedish year the camera captured the many different birds that settled, for a brief respite, on the pillar. The resulting captivating photographs of many bird species are collected together in The Pillar, which has won several awards including the 2019 Rencontres de la Photographie author book award and the Swedish Book Art Prize 2020. This is the first printing.
